One of the great features of Magic Ears’ unique platform is that we can enlarge a student’s image, bring them up alongside the teacher, and practice with them one on one. This is known as “Interaction Mode.” The ability to interact individually with a student by using this feature is a great advantage in Magic Ears classes where there can be up to four students at a time. Magic Ears teachers use Interaction Mode for hello’s, goodbye’s and other functions. But perhaps the best use of Interaction Mode is its unique use on the “Let’s Practice Page.”
Here are some tips for maximizing this function and receiving great parent feedback:
Listen to the student.
Don’t get so caught up in props and fun and platform functions that you forget to listen for mistakes.
Correct any mistakes
Chinese parents want their students corrected. Students are used to receiving correction so teachers should know that it’s okay and expected to give correction.
Emphasize the part that needs correction
Isolate the sound or word that needs attention. Repeat the incorrect part if necessary, and indicate which part is wrong. Use a whiteboard or any tool you can to show the student what can be fixed.
Praise the student
Tell the student they did better, or practiced well, and give them a trophy! It’s okay to say “Let’s keep working on it” if the student still needs more practice, but also praise their efforts and progress.
